Really doesn’t get any better than a moms escape over dinner time. No kids to chase after, or cut up food for. No booster seats or potty or diaper emergencies to deal with. Bonus perk; being with other moms that understand how special that feeling is. Sure the conversation can veer towards work or kid issues, but the mere fact there is no one taking away enjoyment from your meal is just the best. Can’t forget the nice perk of actually enjoying your meal with other moms that just get it. It makes for a fantastic evening all the way around. I always feel so refreshed after a mommy night out. It sets the tone and does wonders for my mood the following days.
Even if you don’t know anyone, theres something about bonding over hot food and drinks of your choice with other parents. Its always so refreshing to remember you aren’t alone in this chasm called parenting.
The next time you are wondering if you should take a chance or not on a mommy night out (and LOMC has options!) just jump on it. You have nothing to lose but a good hot meal with wonderful people.
ILA will be hosting an day-long Open House on Thursday, March 23rd, from 8 am to 6 pm. 14788 Boones Ferry Rd. Lake Oswego, OR.
Did you know that ILA has, by far, more field trips than any other local public and private school? That we have the most culturallly and ethnically diverse staff? And student body? That we now offer classes in four languages (French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and English) to children at all grade levels? That our Head of School is a PhD candidate in Education? That we are the only school in the area, public or private, that follows the scientifically recommended 7 weeks on curriculum, and 2 weeks off (ITC weeks). And that our ITC weeks do not cost parents extra?
And there is so much more to know! That’s why we are hosting next Thursday’s Open House. Come learn more about the unique learning environment we offer your child, and how our curriculum develops over a child’s school career.
All classrooms will be open to visiting parents throughout the school day. Come observe and ask all your questions: all staff is expected to be there, and there will be informational packets in each class.
If you can’t come earlier, be sure to come at 3:30 p.m. for the informational meeting and power-point presentation. There will be free child care while you learn all about ILA, about our unique curriculum, and about the many ways in which second-language learning benefits your child’s brain (greater connectivity, better performance in almost all areas including math, science, and music… and more).
A strong bi-lingual, international education such as ILA’s opens up students’ minds and hearts to the larger world, and opens up the world’s horizons to them. And remember, most children with a quality bi-lingual pre-college education receive scholarships for their university studies. Thus, an education at ILA is truly an muti-faceted investment that can begin paying financial returns as early as college!
So hi! My name is Allison Browning. I’m your shiny new official blogger. I thought for my first blog I would take a moment and tell you about myself.
I’m a married stay at home mom to my little boy who will be turning four in June. I live in Wilsonville, however I’m usually out and about in Lake Oswego, Tualatin, Tigard, and sometimes even Beaverton and Hillsboro doing fun things with (and without!) my son. When not attempting to write something of use to someone, I enjoy the attempt at reading. Currently I am writing for the Wilsonville Spokesman, and I do my volunteer work at Tualatin Library once a week for two hours. I am also currently on the Wilsonville Citizens Academy. So yes, I do love to volunteer.
I’ll be honest I’ve never blogged before. My hope is that you find it a quick escape of ideas and thoughts. Some of which might be of use to you. I’m not a preacher, or political, and my intention is for it to be lighthearted for everyone.
I’d like to hear what you all would love to see in this blog. I have some initial topic ideas, some of which will focus on LO Moms events, common parenting topics, and things going on around Portland Metro. Those are just some of my initial thoughts on what this whole thing will be about. But, I need your input to make this a continued success. So please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with ANYTHING that you want me to expand on or talk about in this blog. I can’t wait to hear from you!
